This replaces the old structure of six days of childcare leave (youngest child aged six and below) plus two days of extended childcare leave (aged seven to twelve), a maximum of eight days regardless of family size. The Government will also fully reimburse employers for statutory child-related leave, including maternity, paternity, shared parental and childcare leave, up to the reimbursement cap, up from a shared-cost arrangement previously capped at $1,000 to $1,500 a year. A start date for the new leave tiers has not yet been announced.
